How verification works
When you create an account, you'll be asked to scan a government-issued ID and take a short selfie. Stripe Identity verifies the document is real, runs liveness detection on the selfie, and confirms the two match. The whole process takes about 90 seconds. Your ID is never visible to other users.
What this changes
It changes everything. Scammers cannot create fifty accounts to burn through after each scam — one ID, one account, for life. Disputes can be resolved against a real human being. Stolen parts cannot be flipped under a fake name. Bad actors are permanently removed, not temporarily inconvenienced.
